Halloween

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, sick kids and the inconveniences of a home improvement project make me tired.

This year's pumpkins:

Jacob on the left as Optimus Prime (Transformers), Jonah as Bumblebee, Emmy as Ariel and little monkey Caleb:

Ariel wasn't really a very good costume to walk in, being a mermaid and all so Emmy made a costume change. Here they are getting ready to go to Trunk or Treat at our church:

Ready to go trick or treating!:
We piled in the back of a friend's truck and hit a few houses in our neighborhood before going elsewhere:
Check out Emmy's bitchin' hot pink hair:
The gang of boys:
A really unhappy monkey who thought trick or treating was overrated:
The best line of the night by Emmy (as we went up to a house that HAD THEIR PORCH LIGHT ON but didn't answer the door:) "Well if we don't get candy, that's lame!"

Imagination

Just typing that makes me think of Spongebob. Any Spongebob fans out there know what I'm talking about. Imaginaaaaaaaaation, while making the rainbow appear over my head. We've seen every Spongebob episode about 300 times. Oh look , I found a picture!!
Hahahahaha!!! TOTALLY not the point of my post. I took the boys over to a friends house to play yesterday evening and we stayed until after dark. We were sitting outside watching them play and they were playing a made up game as usual, they always make up some sort of game to play. One of them came to take a break and I said "what are y'all playing? Ambulance? Policeman?" He said "no, we're playing evacuation." I said "oh, are you saving people?" to which he replied "no, we're not saving people, we're running away from the tornadoes and the flood. Sometimes we don't make it out in time and we die." Sure enough, we watched them play some more and one would be laying spread eagle in the grass while the others were dragging him off to the side.
Other kids play school, house, doctor. Nah, not our kids. Kids from Southeast Texas play evacuation. Priceless. :P

New family members

So I had a little lapse in judgement a week or so ago. I was at Tugboat with Caleb and came across some kittens. There were four, tiny little pathetic things. I ended up bringing two home. I know, I've lost my mind. I don't even have the "well the kids bugged me until I caved" excuse, this one was all me. Meet the newest additions to the family:

Peety is on the right, and maybe the ugliest cat in the world, Bixie is on the left.

Yes. Peety and Bixie. That's what happens when you let 7 year olds name animals. Jonah wrote their names the other night and he spelled them Pede and Bicse. The names are ridiculous enough, I think I'll use my spellings. ;)

I have to add that I've made my children crazy like me, Jonah was really excited when I told him that if he used my spellings, they'd have 5 letters each.

Basil
Nikki
Jacob
Jonah
Emily
Caleb
Annie
Peety
Bixie

Notice the pattern? :P

Minor freakout

We were sitting in the living room when Jonah comes running in saying "Emmy's locked in the bathroom!" So we get quiet and we hear "HELP! HELP! I'M SERIOUS!" Totally frantic. She managed to lock herself in the bathroom and couldn't get out. She was flipping the frick out, no lie. "SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME! I'M GOING TO HAVE TO LIVE IN HERE! I'M SCARED! I'M SERIOUS! HELP! HELP! HELP!" Screaming at the top of her lungs. We tried unlocking it from the outside with no luck, we tried getting her to calm down long enough to turn the lock the right way so she could let herself out with no luck. Lucky for us, I had put the bathroom window up early this morning so Basil just shoved one of the boys in there from outside and he let her out. Basil and I just looked at each other. I said "alrighty now." To which he replied "yes, now we'll just sit and wait to hear from CPS." Hahahaha. No telling what our neighbors behind us (who were outside) thought. Poor Emmy. She just can't help it sometimes. Her brain is tired from being a backseat Mom all day. ;)

One year ago today

All 9 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches of Caleb Andrew made his way into the world. It doesn't seem at all possible, time seems like it passes faster with each one!!!

Happy first birthday my sweet baby boy, I love you so very much!!!

Football and idiots

We made an attempt to go to the game tonight. PNG's first at the "new" Reservation. Nice, by the way, and it's not even finished. Anyway, we made it not even through the first quarter and we had to leave. It was partly because of Caleb, which was expected, but it wasn't all his fault. On the 90 mile hike back to the car, I had a conversation with Jacob and Jonah.

Me: You know, I know some of your friends who sit through football games. The whole thing.

One of them: Well, we don't know about it!

Me: Maybe you would if you paid more attention instead of acting silly.

One of them: We don't know who to cheer for!

Me: You cheer for the Indians, always for the Indians.

Jonah: Well who cares! We like to stay home!

Me: WELL I LIKE TO GO TO THE GAME and I think it's time you learn more about it!

Jonah: I'm going to tear this sign down!!! (a garage sale sign nailed to a telephone pole.)

Me: Ignoring him and his fit.

Emmy: What does the sign say Mom? Does it say don't act like an idiot?

I almost fell off of the sidewalk. I think they should hang signs like that around town, and I could use a few for here around the house too.
