Girls day out
Emmy and I had a date on Sunday, we went out to eat and then went shopping, just us two. We went to get school clothes, since she is starting mother's day out (practice school as we call it) after all. We got some new shoes, and a few outfits plus she picked out her backpack and lunch kit. Littlest Pet Shop of course, although it was a tough choice for her between that and Tinkerbell. When we got home, she wanted to put on a fashion show for her Dad and brothers.
We went swimming between when we got home from shopping and the fashion show, hence the hair-do. Hahaha.
She picked this next one out all by herself. She picked up the shirt, examined it and said "OH MY GOSH! This shirt is one one dot nine nine dollars! I can't pay for that!" Uh, hello. Like you're paying. I said "it's twelve dollars Em, I think we can handle that if you want it."
She really doesn't look as doofy in this outfit as the picture suggests. She was being silly with her pose. She was all over this one because it had a purse to match. Girls are fun. :)
So she's all set. We'll say that this is her first school experience. Last years three days total hardly counts. I'm way less hormonal than the last time I tried putting her in, so I bet it goes much better this time around. Plus she HAS to go, she starts kindergarten next year! Waaaaaaaaaaaa!!! :(

Dr. Emmy
Yesterday, Emmy and I were playing "you be" with her Littlest Pet Shop animals. "You be" is Emmy's favorite thing to do. She gives you an object and says "you be this" and then you have conversations between your object and whatever her object is, and you visit imaginary places with your "you be" objects. Usually it's an animal of some sort, but she'll play "you be" with anything. We were out eating once and she forgot her toys, she picked up a fork and told Basil "here, you be this" then they proceeded with a "you be" session between his fork and her spoon. She has a very vivid imagination. ANYFREAKINGWAY, yesterday, we were playing and we went to the carnival. My animal rode the merry go round a few too many times and got sick. Her animal was the doctor and she said:
"Here, you need this medicine. It's called diarrhea infected, and you need two scoops. It's supposed to stay in your tummy for a while then you'll feel better."
Diarrhea infected. I'd run toward a medicine with that name, wouldn't you? ;)
After we played "you be," we played Memory. She beat me two out of three times and at the end of the game stood up and said "I KICKED YOUR HINEY! NA NA NA NA STICK YOUR FACE IN POO POO! I'M THE BEST MEMORY PLAYER EVER!"
She's a trip, she really is.

New trick
I put Caleb in his bed to play for a minute and found him like this when I went back:

And he's SO proud. We lowered his crib mattress just in time!! Problem is, he can't get down so once he stands up he either squeals until somebody rescues him or he lets go, falls and hits his big fat head. Either way, it's very annoying. Lucky for him he's cute. ;) Once he started moving, he really started moving. I was cleaning the bathroom earlier and when I turned around to walk out, there he was. I almost tripped over him, he's very stealthy. I had flashbacks from when Jacob and Jonah were little, I'd find them standing over the toilet staring down at the toy they'd just thrown in there. Time for some toilet locks because toilet wise, things don't stay as clean as they did when Jacob and Jonah were babies, and it's all their fault. Boys are gross.

Birthday part 2
I'm having computer issues so since it's working right now I thought I'd better post while the posting is good. :)
We had a pool party at the Pompano this weekend for the boys, they wanted their classmates to come celebrate with them. They had a really good turnout and everyone had a ball. They now have an impressive Transformers collection going, although I still can't figure out why any kid would want to play with them, they frustrate the hell out of me.

Jacob was visited by the tooth fairy!
He lost his first tooth yesterday while swimming at the Pompano, and I missed the whole thing dammit! It was apparently very entertaining too, according to Basil. Jacob lost (actually lost - as in didn't know where it was) the tooth and was crying about that and Emily was crying because Jacob was crying (and because there was a tiny amount of blood). Jonah was the only one holding it together, he was busy looking for the tooth. They did find it, and Jacob came running into the house proudly sporting his new gap and the tiny little tooth in his hand. We put it up and I hurried to make his tooth fairy pillow, nothing like waiting until the last minute huh?
Here he was Saturday with all of his teeth:
Weren't they just born yesterday? :( Sheesh, I've got one losing them and one growing them at the same time.
Oh, Caleb decided to start crawling this weekend too. Nice weekend for milestones apparently. I'll make a new post for that (and one for Jacob and Jonah's pool party) later in the week.

Speaking his mind
Three times today, I heard Jacob screaming "MOM! Jonah farted in my face!!!" Lovely. Boys are just fantastic. Finally I asked him why he would let somebody get so close to his face with a butt. I mean, why wouldn't you move out of the way? Anyway, I said "the next time he tries that just bite his butt and I bet he doesn't do it again." He ended up chasing Jonah around the house for 30 minutes trying to bite him. So not the way I wanted that to turn out. He got frustrated because he couldn't hold him down so he shut himself in his room to pout. Jonah was so proud that he got away, he came into the bedroom where I was folding clothes to tattle. "Jacob was trying to bite me." I said "if you put your butt in my face like you've been doing to him all day, I'd bite you too!" He said "you couldn't catch me. You have a big belly and your boobies are too fat."
Niiiiiice.
I would have yelled at him but I laughed so hard that by the time I composed myself, he was gone.

I like summer
Really. As crazy as it may sound, I am really enjoying the freedom of summer and am not looking forward to school starting back up. Some days I'm ready to run away and hide, but there are more good days than bad, and I love not feeling so tied to the clock. The kids all think it's totally cool that they can play outside until well after the sun goes down. Tonight we went out to play and they had 5 friends show up. They spent their time running between our house and a friends house a street over. She lives on a dead end so we just let them run back and forth and all of the Moms sat out in the yard and visited. It was nice! There is a big field on the side of our yard, so we could see that they made it to her house safely, just FYI. They didn't cross any streets or anything. :P
It all ends on August 25th, that's the first day of school. :( Emmy's starting mother's day out this year though, so my Tuesdays and Thursdays will be quiet with just Caleb. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking a little forward to that. :)

Open mouth, insert foot
We went to Walmart yesterday (all six of us), Basil pushed Caleb and Jacob in one cart and I had Jonah and Emily in the other. We split up as usual and as I was walking past the shoes, along comes a woman with a flipping capuchin monkey in her basket. I kid you not, a real live monkey, complete with shirt and diaper. She walked a little bit past me and it dawned on me what it was, so I called to her and asked if Jonah and Emily could see. She had the nerve to act all in a hurry, like she didn't want to stop. I said "you have to expect that people are going to stop you, you're walking around Walmart with a monkey in your cart." She came to a slow roll, never really a stop and said "her name is Daisy, don't touch her." Whatever. So the kids looked and we went on with our business. When we met up with the others, Jonah told Jacob all about seeing the monkey. Jacob of course wanted to see it. He was going on and on about the friggin monkey, Jonah was going on and on about how he wishes he had one as a pet. We finally got up to the check out line and Jacob is still asking about it. I finally said "THE LADY WAS MEAN! YOU DON'T WANT TO LOOK AT HER STUPID MONKEY! THAT'S A DUMB THING TO HAVE AS A PET! IT PROBABLY HAS RABIES ANYWAY!" He said "why does she have one then?" I said "BECAUSE SHE'S WEIRD!"
About 30 seconds later, Jacob goes "OH! There it is! I see it!!"
The lady was two people in front of us in line. OH. MY. GOD. I'm sure she heard every single word I said since because I was agitated I wasn't whispering. I thought I would die right there in the store, Basil on the other and, thought it was the funniest thing ever.
There are 20 something check outs at Walmart, what are the odds?! Basil is STILL laughing at me.
She sort of gets it
Last night, as Emmy and I were going to sleep (it was her "special" night to sleep with Mom - although most nights end up as Emmy's "special" night, but that's another post) she started chatting like she often does:
Em: We're lucky because we have a house. Some people don't have houses.
Me: That's right, some don't.
Em: And some people don't have toys. We're lucky to have toys.
Me: You sure are.
Em: God is magic and has magic powers.
Me: Uh.....
Em: Yeah, he lives on the biggest cloud and he can do whatever he wants.
Me: Oooookay.
Em: Some people don't have doors. And they don't have a roof or windows. They have to put a big ladder on the house and jump in. Then they have to wash their hands because they land on the floor and there are germs there. Why does God make germs? That's mean.
I gave the reply that I often give her when she asks questions like this: "ask your Daddy." He always thinks of something to tell her and whatever that is usually results in more questions.
She makes me tired. :)

Out of the mouths of babes
I'm sure this will be a reoccurring title, since they say something that floors me pretty much daily. Jacob and Jonah are out in the playroom playing a game and I heard Jonah say (in anticipation of something happening on the game):
"I hope it's Vicky. She's hot. I want to marry her."
OK, now I don't know whether or not to fall over because my seven year old knows how to use the word "hot" in that way, or whether I should worry because the Vicky he's referring to looks like this:

At least Jacob has a good head on his shoulders. His response to "do you think she's hot Jacob?" was "uh, no."

Jumping on the bandwagon
Alright, I thought I'd give this blogging thing a shot, it seems easier and less time consuming than keeping up with an actual website, I dropped the ball on that one. This will mostly be about the kids, probably all about the kids to be honest since that's what my life revolves around at the present time - plus they're a constant source of entertainment. :) I'll try to keep up with this, time will tell. :P
I'll start with our most recent "event," Jacob and Jonah's 7th birthday! I can't believe it's been seven years, it just doesn't seem right. It seems like yesterday they were sitting on the floor like Caleb is now, flapping at each other and stealing toys. Time sure flies. We did something different this year and celebrated at the beach. We took them to the Rainforest Cafe in Galveston on their actual birthday (July 2nd) and other than the eternity long wait in the ferry line (to and from) it was a great day.
Happy 7th birthday my sweet boys!!
