Boys are...

...special. Just really, really special:

Speaking of really special boys, I'd say it's time to move up a clothes size, wouldn't you?:

In my defense, it did cover his big belly when pulled down, but as you can see it didn't stay that way. I think I need to dig out the 2T stuff, 18 month obviously isn't cutting it anymore.

And while I'm defending myself, I do bathe my kids but we had a nice afternoon playing at the park and Jacob had evidence all over his face. Not that you could really look past the finger in the nose, but you know.

Angel pictures

These are the professional pictures that were taken during Whimsical in December. Excuse the quality, I took pictures of the pictures since we're scannerless at the moment. ;)

How sweet is she?!?!

Cat Care 101

With your instructor, Caleb Andrew. Today's lesson is: How to most effectively transport your cat.

No animals were harmed in the making of today's lesson. Whether or not she was pissed off is another story.

Pinewood Derby

Jonah and his what-started-as-a-pirate-ship-and-ended-up-as-a-Mardi-Gras-float car:

Jacob and his killer whale:

Watching as the Mardi Gras float falls behind:

Watching Shamu win one:

The end result:

A video of Jonah's car racing:

A video of Jacob's car racing (the kids were chanting "Shamu!" which made him smile even though he lost)

I gave the whole "no crying if you don't win, we're just there to have fun and watch your car race" talk before we left but it apparently went in one ear and out the other. We got home and I asked "but it was fun, right? It was cool to watch your car race down the track!" Jacob replied "NO, it was NOT fun! I'm quitting Cub Scouts!" Basil's response to that was "NO YOU'RE NOT! That uniform was expensive and you're wearing it!!"

Good times. Can't wait till next year.

I see it...

...the light at the end of the tunnel!! Everybody has been fever free without the aid of medication since Wednesday night. WHOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!! Surely it's gone, right? It's not coming back? They can all go back to school?!

HALLELUJAH!!!!!

Jacob is either a fast healer, or he didn't have the flu. I can't imagine it would be something else but I suppose stranger things have happened. He only had fever for two days compared to Emmy's six and Jonah's nine. I think we're done though, whew! Good thing, the boys have the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby this afternoon and they're really looking forward to racing their "cars." Jacob is racing a killer whale, and Jonah's started out as a pirate ship that turned into a Mardi Gras float/ship. That's what happens when you ask a general question like "what do you want your car to look like?" They painted and finished the cars and they're proud of them, so that's all that counts. Lots of pictures to come, I promise. ;)

Alrighty now

Jacob woke up with fever and stayed home today.

This is almost funny. Not quite, but almost. Lucky for me, the new Lost season starts tomorrow night so I have at least an hour on the couch and a big fat margarita to look forward to. I think I've earned it after being inside this house with sick kids for 9 days now, I'm just sayin'.

The flu sucks. Have I mentioned that?

Victim number two

Poor Emmy. This was actually taken on Saturday and she only looked that pathetic then. She still doesn't feel great, but she's not feeling that bad. As long as I keep a constant stream of Tylenol/Motrin going then she's alright, the fever comes right back if I miss a dose. Jonah's fever isn't as constant as it was but he still had one today. He's complaining that his ear is hurting though, so it may be an ear infection causing the fever now. Who knows, I'm sure it all runs together.
I started running fever on Friday and generally felt like crap all weekend, but feel fine today. Jacob and Caleb seem fine so far....KNOCK ON WOOD! Basil said that he's not feeling great today, but knowing him he'll keep working and then try to jog it off. Men.
Maybe we'll get the flu shot next year. Sheesh.

The face of sick

Jonah has the flu. He came home from school Monday with fever and yesterday when he woke up it was 104.2. I took him to the doctor where they did the nose swab thing and it came back positive. He slept most of yesterday, I can't seem to get his fever to completely ever go away even with Tylenol and Motrin. He perked up for a bit last night but quickly crashed and fell asleep with little effort even after the huge nap that he took during the day. He's confined to our bedroom, and I'm hoping I can keep it from spreading to everybody. Not likely I'm sure, but we'll see.
If I go MIA for a while, you'll know why. ;)

Why?!

WHY CAN'T I EAT SAND?!

I'm not sure if you can tell just how much is in his mouth, he was shoveling it in by the handful. Ew. It all ends up in his diaper eventually too, it looked like he pooped a beach this morning. How's that for too much information? :P

We went to Doornbos yesterday to play for a while, he really liked the ducks and was prepared to just lower himself down into the pond gently and probably would have done so had I not been standing there.

Just a friendly public service announcement, be careful if you plan to play at Doornbos Park. I was with a group of friends yesterday and we walked out to this in the parking lot:

This is a friend's car. While we were playing - in the broad daylight - some punk smashed three windows and snatched purses out of cars. There were probably 10 cars in the parking lot and the park was full of people. It happened last weekend to somebody else that we know. My wallet was in my car, I put it in the center console thing before I got out though so I really got lucky. I won't leave it in there from now on. This is in Nederland for crying the frick out loud, it's not like we were playing in the hood. No offense to anybody who lives in the hood, I'm sure it's lovely. We won't be going back to Doornbos for a while anyway. The police officer that responded said that they've had a bad rash of this sort of thing lately around that area. Sad. There are a-holes everywhere.

Random pictures

I thought this came out nice:

Ok so ignoring the snot and chapped cheeks, aren't her eyelashes UNBELIEVABLY long?!
Bec came and had a slumber party with the kids last week, they ask her to spend the night every time she comes over. She brought her Wii, they watched a movie and had hot chocolate/popcorn with her. The boys got totally high after the hot chocolate, I think it was a combination of sugar and excitement, I've seriously never seen them like that before!!

What happens when you have a pedicure party with a four year old and actually let her paint your toenails. I left them like that, I hope I don't forget and wear sandals anytime soon.

This is what you get when you mix snot and an artificial Christmas tree. He was rolling around on the carpet, I vacuumed but apparently didn't get it all. I promise I didn't stick it to his face, it really stuck there just like that all by itself, I RAN for the camera, LOL!

Rockin' his chins:

Best buddies. Jacob - on the right (sorry for those guessing, I just ruined it) has evidence on his face of what happens when you get too close to a sparkler:
