Bird show

We took the kids (mainly for Jacob, the other's really didn't give a hoot. Hoot, get it? Bird show, hoot? Nevermind) to a bird show at the PA civic center this past weekend. I gave him the camera and turned him loose, here are some (of the million - that's my boy) that he took:

He flipped when he saw the macaw:
I guess we could have just bought one while there, they did have a baby for sale for only six hundred dollars. For a freaking bird. You know, the things that eat all of the dog food and crap on clean cars?
Or we could have bought this one that this lady was cooing at for a mere fourteen thousand. That's right people, three zeros. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get it. There were people walking around with birds on their shoulders and crap all down their backs. I don't see the appeal but apparently LOTS of people do if they have clubs devoted to it.
I had to take the camera away from him for this moment:
I think it may well be the highlight of his little life. He's asked me to print a picture so he can hang it in his room. I see a future club member in the making.

Emmy in action

She's really enjoying soccer. She may not be the most aggressive player on the team but she sure has a good time!

Camp Urland - the spring version

They had a blast, once again. We'll obviously be signing up for every one of these for the rest of their Cub Scout years.
They explored...

and hiked with their best pal John...

and explored...

and explored....

and explored....

and explored some more by their tent site.

And if you give Jacob and Jonah just a little time outside, they'll find something.

Jonah found a special lizard...

with a blue belly. Check out the grime on the hands and the dirt under the nails. Ew! Neat lizard though, I'm surprised they didn't come home with it!

See, here again is one of the main reasons that I'm not a camper:

They enjoyed shooting bb guns...

and archery...

and fake calf roping...

and cruising around the lake.
What boy wouldn't have a total blast?!

Spring has sprung!

YAY!! We even set up the baby pool a week ago. Caleb wants to play outside ALL of the time now, which is fine except that he wants to jump on the trampoline. That's great when the other kids are here, but I'm just not a trampoline kind of girl. I'm not er, exactly built for it. We've been having fun finding "blowy" flowers, swinging and sliding. Aside from the big three fighting all of the fracking time, summer should be a blast this year. He'll really enjoy having his playmates around.

I STILL need to take his two year pictures. Here we are going on two and half and I still haven't done it. I had planned on it two weeks ago until he decided that he'd like to run around the living room with his face on the carpet.

This is what it looked like about 4 days after that, it was really attractive. Now he just has a faint pink circle there, so when that goes away I'm gonna get the pictures.

Who intentionally rubs their forehead on the carpet until you end up with a carpet burn? I mean, wasn't that uncomfortable at some point? I'll never figure him out.

Easter

Before the Easter post, I have to share a story from this morning. On our way out the door for school, I said to Jacob "those shorts are a little short, aren't they?" He agreed and I yanked them down a little so that he didn't look so doofy. I told him just to not pull them up so high and I'd have to put them into the "things that don't fit anymore" box. So we get into the car and I look over at him, showing half of his thigh and it hit me. They're Caleb's shorts. Needless to say, I turned around so he could change. Now, I don't know what the saddest part of this story is. Is it:
*************************
a) I pick out their clothes, and I didn't notice then.
b) Jacob didn't notice that the shorts were a little tight.
c) The shorts are a 2T and Jacob is 8 and they were only a little tight.
d) I don't know what clothes belong to what kid.
e) I almost sent him to school that way.
*************************
I'm thinking all of the above. Good Lord. I think I should go to more than one cup of coffee in the mornings.
Onto the Easter post:

The Easter bunny made an appearance at the library's story time last week. Caleb was telling him that he really wanted to get down and go slide. "All done Easter bunny."
I just noticed that the shorts that Caleb has on in the picture below are the ones that Jacob almost wore to school this morning. HAHAHAHA!!! Poor Jake.

Jonah in a mad scramble for eggs at a massive egg hunt Saturday:

Easter morning. We had to MAKE him go out and hunt eggs. The Easter bunny put a train in his basket you see, and he wasn't interested in anything else after seeing that.

Once he saw that there was chocolate in the eggs, he totally lost interest in hunting.
Hope y'all had a wonderful Easter!!
