Christmas

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas, we sure did!! Everybody got just what they wanted and then some. :)

Here they are super excited about going to church on Christmas Eve. I dropped the ball and didn't make sure that Jacob and Jonah had decent pants to wear, so they ended up in jeans.



At Gamaw's after church:

Putting out the reindeer food that they made. They wanted to sprinkle it around the yard but I convinced them that the reindeer would have an easier time eating all of it if they put it in once pile. ;)

Christmas morning. Poor Jonah did his best to be energetic and enthusiastic after he spent all night throwing up.

He DOES sleep with jammies on, just FYI. Diaper not tight enough = wet jammies. Ew.

My awesome new camera

Basil (LOVE HIM!) got me a Canon Rebel EOS XS for Christmas, it's SWEET! I've been snapping pictures nonstop since yesterday morning. I opened my gift last so I didn't get any of Christmas Eve or morning with the new one, and I haven't uploaded the ones from the old camera yet. I'll make a Christmas post in the next few days.

Galveston

We took a short overnight trip to Galveston. We went to the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens, the aquarium and of course ate at the Rainforest Cafe. Here are lots of pictures:

We stayed at the Moody Gardens hotel and this was the view from our room, the kids were in awe.



The pyramids are lit up at night, and we could see the Festival of Lights from our room. You can't tell from this picture but it was really pretty:

At the beginning of the Festival of Lights. It was only -80 out and the wind was blowing 187mph, I don't know why he wasn't enjoying himself.

The only building over the gulf in Galveston (other than the Flagship - below) that's still there. I think this must have been one of the gift shops, I'm not sure. Other than noticing that all of the over the water gift shops are now gone, things don't look any different. I'd imagine that the real destruction is down in the neighborhoods, we stayed along the seawall and down the one street it takes to get to Moody Gardens. Most of the homes down that street had some sort of damage.

We went through the beach to get to Galveston, so we stopped by the cabin to show the kids what's left. Jacob kept saying "I can't wait to climb the cabin." When I told him that there were no stairs to climb he said "that's OK, I'm a really good climber. I can get up to the floor." I said "there isn't a floor. There isn't anything." I think that they were wondering why we haven't been down there to clean things up so that we can vacation there next summer. Now they know.

The boys were determined to find something that was in the cabin, it was 38 degrees when we got there and they probably would have stayed all day digging if we would have let them.

Jacob was so excited to find a plate and a remote control that he thinks is ours. It's not but we didn't have the heart to tell him otherwise so he proudly loaded it in the car and we brought it home.

He had two naps totaling an hour while we were gone. He's a trooper though and is way easier to travel with than any of the others were at this age.

...oh how I hate thee. It's a chore to get them all to even look at the camera at the same time. If I manage to do that AND not have one (or more) looking like a total doof then it's a miracle.

These PJ's were worth the money I spent on them THREE YEARS AGO. A little iron on hem goes a long way. ;) Emmy got new ones this year (pink of course) and I ordered some for Caleb on sale after last Christmas, he had a sleeper just like this one last year. I used them for last years Christmas card picture too, I'm so creative and really put forth an effort to be original this year huh? Ha!

Ok this is just ridiculous:

In the end I settled on this one. I know Emmy isn't looking at the camera but she's looking at Caleb and she does do that a lot after all. Plus I like how they have their arms around one another, that in itself is a Christmas miracle. ;)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Our little angel

Emmy was an angel in A Whimsical Christmas, a recital/show put on by the Mid County Performing Arts Company. She dances at Keely Jardell's and this is the 8th year they've done this show. She did GREAT, she loved every minute of being up on stage. She had issues getting off the stage in a timely manner, she got distracted by the big girls twirling around on their pointe shoes and forgot to exit when she was supposed to. It was cute though and she likes to hear me tell the story. She had her most impressive stall at Friday night's show where it seemed like she stood there for a full minute while four other angels stood trotting in place behind her, all waiting to run offstage. I was waiting for her and she ran up to me and said "did I forget to run off again?" She did great Saturday though and did just what she was supposed to do. They offer DVD's of both nights and I think I'll buy the one from the Friday show because it shows what was more of the norm through all of this. Plus it was cute.

Thank you to everybody who came out to watch her: Gamaw, Becca, Granny, Grumpy, Nana, Peepaw, Net, Anton, Daddy, Jacob, Jonah and even Caleb. She was really proud telling all of the other angels backstage who all was there to see her!
