Open mouth, insert foot

We went to Walmart yesterday (all six of us), Basil pushed Caleb and Jacob in one cart and I had Jonah and Emily in the other. We split up as usual and as I was walking past the shoes, along comes a woman with a flipping capuchin monkey in her basket. I kid you not, a real live monkey, complete with shirt and diaper. She walked a little bit past me and it dawned on me what it was, so I called to her and asked if Jonah and Emily could see. She had the nerve to act all in a hurry, like she didn't want to stop. I said "you have to expect that people are going to stop you, you're walking around Walmart with a monkey in your cart." She came to a slow roll, never really a stop and said "her name is Daisy, don't touch her." Whatever. So the kids looked and we went on with our business. When we met up with the others, Jonah told Jacob all about seeing the monkey. Jacob of course wanted to see it. He was going on and on about the friggin monkey, Jonah was going on and on about how he wishes he had one as a pet. We finally got up to the check out line and Jacob is still asking about it. I finally said "THE LADY WAS MEAN! YOU DON'T WANT TO LOOK AT HER STUPID MONKEY! THAT'S A DUMB THING TO HAVE AS A PET! IT PROBABLY HAS RABIES ANYWAY!" He said "why does she have one then?" I said "BECAUSE SHE'S WEIRD!"

About 30 seconds later, Jacob goes "OH! There it is! I see it!!"

The lady was two people in front of us in line. OH. MY. GOD. I'm sure she heard every single word I said since because I was agitated I wasn't whispering. I thought I would die right there in the store, Basil on the other and, thought it was the funniest thing ever.

There are 20 something check outs at Walmart, what are the odds?! Basil is STILL laughing at me.
