How freaking cool was that?!?!

Snow people! Snow in Southeast Texas, and quite a bit of it...for us anyway!!

Our morning in pictures:

We were outside about 6am, they'd play in about 15 minute shifts because it was so cold. Jonah said "I WISH THE SNOW WAS WARM!" Emmy's PJ pants are on inside out but whatever. We weren't trying to impress anybody. Hahahaha. They seriously jumped right out of bed, grabbed a jacket and went outside.

Snow angels of course:

Caleb's reaction to the snow, he was NOT impressed.

We had to put him down and snap a REALLY quick picture:

Scouts

Alright, things are somewhat back to normal around here snot wise, so I can get back to the important things in life.....blogging. ;)

How freaking cute are they?!

We were on our way to our first den meeting and they were saying "YES! We're finally Cub Scouts!" Hahaha. As if they've known about it their whole lives instead of a month. I had to leave early to take Emmy to her dress rehearsal (more on that later) so Basil took over the second half of the meeting. They had a great time and are looking forward to earning badges, patches, whatever they're called for their shirts. This will be a mostly Dad and boys thing as far as outings go but since I (and another blissfully ignorant Mom) raised my hand when they asked for Den Leaders, I'll be involved in that part of it. I like the outdoors, but I don't do camping in a tent. I never have and really have no desire to experience it. At the first meeting we had, somebody mentioned an upcoming camping trip that will include fishing, archery and BB guns. You should have seen Jacob and Jonah's eyes light up. Good God. Monday when we were going to our meeting Jacob said "do we get to shoot the BB guns tonight Mom?!" Uh, no. No you don't and I don't want to be there when you do. Surely it's one at a time. Can you imagine?!?!?!

I'm tired

Sorry for the lack of posting, we've got another round of nasty going around the house and I'm just plain worn out. Caleb ran a high fever last weekend and is on antibiotics at the moment. He spends most of the day whining and pulling on my pants legs. Yesterday when I picked the boys up from school Jacob came out crying and said that he had a bad headache and that his legs hurt. I took his temp when we got home and it was 103. He said "I shivered all day at school." Uh, hello. How about going to the nurse next time. He had to stay home today (even though he felt fine) because he hadn't been without fever for long enough to go back. He and Emmy fought all.day.long. Tonight before bed Jonah complained that his stomach hurt and had to run to the toilet a few times. No puke, just some nasty man sized burps but I won't be surprised if he starts blowing chunks tonight.

FRICK!!!

So if I don't post for a while it's because (1) somebody else is sick... (2) I'm sick... (3) I ran away.

It's that time of year...

...We've been Elfed again. Since I'm the one making the video and Basil isn't here to voice his opinion, he's an Elf too. I'm sure he'll just love that!

Big day for Jonah

The tooth fairy paid another visit last night, this time to Jonah who's finally lost his first tooth. He's been wiggling it for several weeks now and yesterday he said that it was starting to hurt when he was eating. He decided that last night was time, he wanted it out. In true Smith fashion, it turned into a complete fiasco. Jonah crying because it was hurting, Jacob crying because Jonah was crying, Emily screaming that she was ready to get out of the tub and Caleb hanging onto my pants leg whining with snot running down his face, way overtired and ready to go to sleep. Basil was teaching CCD and I'm sure was sorry he missed it all. ppppfffffttt.

With all teeth still:

He was SO hoping that the tooth would be sticking out of the apple when he was finished:

FINALLY!:

Putting it in his tooth fairy pillow that I waited until the last minute to make. I was sewing while he was still bleeding:

I wish he hadn't stuck it so far under the pillow:

He swore that his gold dollar was bigger than Jacob's:

You should have heard him re-telling the tale at bedtime last night. "...and then, Mom tied a string around it and then it fell off 18 times and then she tried to wiggle it this way and then I tried to wiggle it that way and then I tried an apple and I think some of my other teeth are loose now because of the apple and then I tried just ripping it out and then finally Mom just pulled this way and it cracked right out!" It's really not that much of a stretch, I did tie some thread around it but I didn't yank on it, I gave the end to him to try and yank it out. It slipped off not quite 18 times, maybe three, until I gave up on that. I finally just counted to three and pulled. He bled like a stuck pig, I don't think it was actually ready to come out but it was dangling after he had been pulling on it for so long, he just couldn't quite finish it off.
I think that was enough drama for one day. :P

My little ballerina

Yesterday was parents day at dance, we were invited to sit in Emmy's classes and watch her dance. She really seems to enjoy herself and she participated the whole entire time. I thought she might get stage fright and clam up with all of the people there but she didn't, she did great!

All about Caleb

His newest trick:

He's walking some of the time now. I think he'd do it all of the time but he DOES NOT like to fall down, it royally ticks him off. I think he's trying to perfect it before using it as his main way to get around. Apparently his Daddy was the same way with things as a child, having to have things just right.

He LOVES bath time, the kid would stay in the water all night long, or until he stands up then falls over and ends up bleeding. It's hard to get him to stay sitting in the tub.

He's into EVERYTHING. The toilet, the cabinets, the closets, he's everywhere I don't want him to be. You can't leave anything out even for a minute because he'll find it. For instance, I left the tub of Desitin out while I went to get his PJ's:

He also doesn't like to be told "no" or have things taken away (what baby does though?) The following picture is evidence of that:

Finally, here's how he's grown over the past year. I meant to take his picture in this chair every month. That didn't happen but I lucked out and ended up with 3, 6, 9 and 12 month ones.

Brand new:

3 months:

6 months:

9 months:

12 months:

So that's it. He's gone from 9 pounds at birth to about 25 pounds now. He eats everything in sight, loves to go outside, loves water, loves animals, loves his sister, tolerates his brothers and when he's not into things he's not supposed to be is a very enjoyable baby.
