First grade!

Jonah was excited about going this morning. Jacob, not so much. Jonah smiled and popped out of bed, Jacob yelled "MOM, YOU'RE WAKING ME UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!" and proceeded to whine all the way to the living room. They were both ready to go when it was time to leave though. I should have anticipated just how many people park, get out and walk their kids in the first day of school. I left a few minutes later than I wanted to, we had to park 73 miles from the school and my kids don't have the quickest steps in the world. We were very nearly late. Jacob and Jonah were the last two to arrive (anybody who knows me knows that I have time anxiety issues, I HATE being late) so all eyes were on us when we walked in. They were not impressed with my wanting a picture of them at their desks and even less impressed that I told them bye in front of everybody. I won't do that tomorrow. We'll leave lots earlier and I'll say my goodbyes before we leave the house. MOOOOOOOOOM! You're embarrassing me!!!

Haircuts

We went to Comedy Cuts to get school haircuts today. An hour and $40 later (see why I normally just do it at home?!) this is what we came out with.

Jacob after. (I buzzed his hair about a month ago so there wasn't much there to begin with, she just trimmed his sides up.)

Jonah (who's been completely high on something today, I'm not sure what his deal is.)

Here it is after. We got about 3 inches cut off of the back, I almost had a panic attack when she was cutting it. It looks good though, it's all wavy in this picture because the girl sprayed it to cut it and then it just air dried.

So they're all set! We go meet the boys' new teacher on Thursday and school starts Monday!

School stuff

School starts next Monday, the boys are NOT happy about it. Last night we had this conversation:

Me: Are you excited about going back to school?

Jacob: No. I hate school.

Jonah: School is not fun.

Me: There must be some fun parts to your day.

Jacob: There aren't. All we do is work.

Me: What about recess? That's fun isn't it?

Jonah: Not fun.

Me: Well you have to go to school. You need to learn things.

Jacob: We already know it all.

Jonah: Yeah, stuff like don't smoke and don't alcohol. We know that.

Well at least they have the basics. Nice to know I won't have drunk chain smoking seven year olds.

Lets hope the excitement builds between now and Monday.
