Big day for Jonah

The tooth fairy paid another visit last night, this time to Jonah who's finally lost his first tooth. He's been wiggling it for several weeks now and yesterday he said that it was starting to hurt when he was eating. He decided that last night was time, he wanted it out. In true Smith fashion, it turned into a complete fiasco. Jonah crying because it was hurting, Jacob crying because Jonah was crying, Emily screaming that she was ready to get out of the tub and Caleb hanging onto my pants leg whining with snot running down his face, way overtired and ready to go to sleep. Basil was teaching CCD and I'm sure was sorry he missed it all. ppppfffffttt.

With all teeth still:

He was SO hoping that the tooth would be sticking out of the apple when he was finished:

FINALLY!:

Putting it in his tooth fairy pillow that I waited until the last minute to make. I was sewing while he was still bleeding:

I wish he hadn't stuck it so far under the pillow:

He swore that his gold dollar was bigger than Jacob's:

You should have heard him re-telling the tale at bedtime last night. "...and then, Mom tied a string around it and then it fell off 18 times and then she tried to wiggle it this way and then I tried to wiggle it that way and then I tried an apple and I think some of my other teeth are loose now because of the apple and then I tried just ripping it out and then finally Mom just pulled this way and it cracked right out!" It's really not that much of a stretch, I did tie some thread around it but I didn't yank on it, I gave the end to him to try and yank it out. It slipped off not quite 18 times, maybe three, until I gave up on that. I finally just counted to three and pulled. He bled like a stuck pig, I don't think it was actually ready to come out but it was dangling after he had been pulling on it for so long, he just couldn't quite finish it off.
I think that was enough drama for one day. :P

My little ballerina

Yesterday was parents day at dance, we were invited to sit in Emmy's classes and watch her dance. She really seems to enjoy herself and she participated the whole entire time. I thought she might get stage fright and clam up with all of the people there but she didn't, she did great!

All about Caleb

His newest trick:

He's walking some of the time now. I think he'd do it all of the time but he DOES NOT like to fall down, it royally ticks him off. I think he's trying to perfect it before using it as his main way to get around. Apparently his Daddy was the same way with things as a child, having to have things just right.

He LOVES bath time, the kid would stay in the water all night long, or until he stands up then falls over and ends up bleeding. It's hard to get him to stay sitting in the tub.

He's into EVERYTHING. The toilet, the cabinets, the closets, he's everywhere I don't want him to be. You can't leave anything out even for a minute because he'll find it. For instance, I left the tub of Desitin out while I went to get his PJ's:

He also doesn't like to be told "no" or have things taken away (what baby does though?) The following picture is evidence of that:

Finally, here's how he's grown over the past year. I meant to take his picture in this chair every month. That didn't happen but I lucked out and ended up with 3, 6, 9 and 12 month ones.

Brand new:

3 months:

6 months:

9 months:

12 months:

So that's it. He's gone from 9 pounds at birth to about 25 pounds now. He eats everything in sight, loves to go outside, loves water, loves animals, loves his sister, tolerates his brothers and when he's not into things he's not supposed to be is a very enjoyable baby.

I-N-D-I-A-N-S!

They had a blast and informed me that they want to do it every week. Too bad they'll have to wait another year before doing it again. I made them some spears to shake and bells to wear on their legs, they designed their own shields. ;) They said that they want to be the Indian Spirit when they "grow up."

Before the game:

Showing off their cool do's:

On the unfinished track during the game, this was taken with my phone, Becca has some more pictures on her camera:

Dancing their way out of the stadium:

They're easier to keep up with in this video since they were the only kids with painted faces. They looked good, if I do say so myself. ;) I had lots of problems getting the video to work right in the blog so I put it somewhere else. Just click below and ignore the ads off to the side.

The lemon experiment

I took these pictures with my phone, and the lighting in the restaurant wasn't great but you get the idea. ;)

Speaking of phone pictures, I thought this one of the pumpkins came out really cool!! It came out way better than the one I took with my regular camera.

Brotherly love

We're sitting at the dinner table tonight, having a nice pleasant conversation about the days events and Jacob says "Jonah told Gavin not to play with Emmy because she smells like gorilla fur." I worked REALLY hard to compose myself and then I went on about how horrible it is to say things like that about people, and how he should be ashamed of himself, blah blah blah. Jonah says "yeah, well, Jacob wrote it on a piece of paper at school!!" I said "you're telling everybody at school that your sister smells like gorilla fur?! SHE HAS TO GO TO THAT SCHOOL NEXT YEAR!" I went on for 15 or so minutes about how they should think of how it makes people feel to say bad things about them, so on and so forth. I kept on until they cried, which is when I know that I've gotten my point across. Mean, yes, but effective. We got to that point by me saying "how about I walk you in to your class tomorrow morning, stand there in front of everybody and tell them that y'all still wet the bed at night." You could just see the terror in their faces. They said "BUT WE DON'T MOM! WE DON'T WET THE BED!" I said "no you sure don't, but what if I tell everybody that. How would that make you feel? Probably similar to how Emmy felt after she heard that you told people that she stinks!"

Or this:
How did we get to "gorilla fur?" Good Lord. Somebody tell me that it won't always be this way. They'll like her at some point, right?!!! CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!?!

Little Spirits

Jacob and Jonah went to a mascot clinic today, three hours of listening to Cherokee and learning to dance like the Indian Spirit. They get to show off what they learned during the third quarter of the game this Friday, they REALLY enjoyed themselves today!!

I don't know who does your hair Indian Spirit guy but.......dude......get somebody else.

Good luck keeping up with them in this video. Jonah is easy to find at the beginning, and Jacob has a huge feather in his hand if that helps any. :P
