Homemade cards

They're always the best kind of cards, aren't they?! My kids don't go pick flowers and hand them to me so that I can put them in a vase, they glue them to paper. Here are the cards they made me for my birthday:

Dear Mommy. Happy birthday Mom. I am glad it is your birthday. Love: Jonah

To: Mom. Happy birthday. Did you know it was April Fool's Day. Have a good birthday night. Love: Jacob

Happy birthday Mommy. I love you. Emily. For Mommy. It's a great day. I love you so much.

Sweet huh?! They're still hanging on the wall, dead droopy flowers and all.

Kidbits

Here are some things that I've heard recently that have made me smile and/or roll my eyes a little.

Jacob: Do you like having four kids?
Me: Yes, why would you ask that?
Jacob: I just thought maybe you get tired of us running around all of the time.
Me: No, I love having four kids, that's just how many I wanted.
Jonah: So you're not going to send us to another Mom?
Me: Why would you say that!? I'll always be your Mom!
Jacob: Even when you're a grandmother?
Me: Yes, even then. Gamaw is still my Mom, and she's a grandmother.
Jacob: Will you have grandmother hair?
Me: I might.
Jacob: NO! I like your hair now, it looks just fine! Don't grow grandmother hair Mom!

With their friend Gavin in the car the other day:

Gavin: Is it hard being twins?
Jonah: No, why would it be hard?!
Gavin: Is it hard for your Mom? I mean, she has to cook for FOUR KIDS.
Jonah: No it's not hard for her! She LIKES cooking for us!

*******************

Me: Stop spraying Dora perfume Emmy, I can smell it all over the house!
Jacob: That's Jonah! They're spraying it on each other!
Me: Nice Jonah, now you're going to school smelling like a girl.
Jonah: OH NO! Hurry Jacob, fart on me!

*******************

Emmy: What kind of birthday are you having Mom?
Me: I'm not having any sort of birthday.
Emmy: WHAT?! There's not going to be any sort of special tablecloth or anything?!?!

******************

Jonah: Why do we get Friday off for Easter?
Me: Because it's Good Friday, do you know what that is?
All: Uhhhhhhhh
Me: Good Friday is the day that Jesus died on the cross and three days later He came back to life. Jesus is the only one that can do that though.
Jacob: Why can't He make us back to life when we die then?
Me: Well He does, when you go to heaven.
Jonah: Do we eat in heaven?
Me: I really don't know.
Jacob: Do we celebrate Easter in heaven?
Me: I'm pretty sure we do.
Jacob: Will there be Easter eggs? I wonder what God put will put in them?!

He sparkles

Just what every Dad wants to hear his son described as huh? Sparkly. In this case it was totally true though. Last week, I was getting ready to go get Jacob and Jonah from school and I couldn't find Caleb. Normally I can call him and I'll hear him make some sort of noise. This time, nothing. Not a peep. I looked a little and then I got sort of frantic. I told Emmy to go look outside, thinking that he might have gotten past me somehow. I ran through every room calling for him. I checked the playroom last and there he sat, right in the middle of a huge pile of blue glitter. He dumped the whole (large) bottle out and was flapping his big fat hands in it.
These pictures were taken AFTER I got back from getting the boys at school so he had rubbed some of it off by then. It was 5 minutes till 3 and I didn't have time to clean him off so I threw him in the car, sparkles and all. His palms were totally blue, it was a mess!
If you click on this picture and make it large, you can see the glitter all over his legs.

This was the same day he proceeded to take his diaper off in his crib and then poop on top of it. Seriously. I should also mention that I went in there and picked him up with the lights off, so I didn't notice until it was too late. Too late as in it ended up all over me too. EWWWW.

He makes me tired.

New tent

Basil bought a new tent today. The boys have a Cub Scouts camping trip coming up in a few weeks and our other tent bit the dust a while back. He didn't go small, as you can see. This should fit us all in case I ever decide to camp. Ha. Yeah, right.

It's even got a screened in "porch." The kids think it's just the best thing ever.

Annie was NOT impressed that she wasn't allowed in.

Basil wants to take my camera with him when they go. While I do want him to take a camera, I just don't know if I want him to take THE camera. I'm getting a new lens for my birthday (shhhhhh, I wasn't supposed to see the box - I can't help if it was delivered while I was here) and it'll be nice for outdoorsy shots. I suppose I could part with it for a weekend. ;)
