What it looks like to be all danced out

I've never seen her fall asleep faster than she did last night. Literally minutes after she put her head on the pillow, she was out.
*******************
She hurt her foot yesterday about 3 hours before the recital started. She cried for a while and was still limping when we got there. We iced it and I gave her some Tylenol and Motrin but it was still hurting when it was time for her to dance. She made it through both of her dances though. I saw her wince a few times and she wasn't dancing with quite as much gusto as she had the previous two nights. She kept smiling though and I was proud of her for trying. She was up a few times during the night complaining and was refusing to put weight on it this morning so I took her to Gamaw to get an xray done. It's not broken thank GOD. That would have made for a crappy vacation!! I guess she just pulled or bruised something. She's still hobbling but she'll live.

I put her two dance videos up on dropshots. Click here to watch them!

You love me, you love me, you really love me!

She was SO proud of these flowers that her Daddy brought her!! Isn't he sweet?! He surprises me sometimes. ;)

When we got home, Jacob and Jonah had left notes for her on the bar. Jonah's said:

To Emily

You should have seen her little eyes light up when reading their notes, it was really sweet. If only it would last. Sigh.
.
Last show tonight! WOOT! My head starts to hurt after about two hours and she wants to stay for the WHOLE ENTIRE SHOW which is closer to 3 1/2 hours. I'm gonna try and coax her into leaving early tonight though. ;)

Dancing Queen

From rehearsal on Tuesday:
.
.
Taking a dinner break in between numbers. Note to self: DO NOT PACK A PB&J SANDWICH NEXT YEAR! She got PB&J on her hand and where did she wipe it? That's right, on her tights that I had already washed and didn't plan to wash again before the recital. She's lucky she's so cute and has been being so sweet lately.

She's so much fun to watch and she really enjoys it, otherwise I'd suggest a different activity. Dance moms are hardcore! I had no idea, honestly. Some of these women saved tables in the dressing room starting MONDAY. We walked in with our stuff last night and my mouth fell open, there was nowhere to dress. Seriously, nowhere. People had made huge sheets and roped off big corners of this huge room. And don't bump into, brush up against, or even look at their stuff. I felt like Forest Gump when he got on the bus to go to the army. "You can't sit here." LOL !!!!! Finally I found a nice lady who was only using half of her table. She looked at me and recognized the "it's our first year" look and offered us some space. There were about 4 of us clueless first years all crammed into a tiny little space. I waved them over when they walked in and looked as stunned as I did. Oh well, it's not like she has 6 costume changes or something, it really wasn't a big deal but I guess next year I'll save us a spot. FRICK! I think my eyes may just have rolled out of my head last night. Why didn't you tell me people were so mean Mom?! GOSH! You did this for how many years? 10? A little warning might have been nice!! :P
.
She was so excited to dance on the "big stage" though and she's way excited about tonight and tomorrow. It makes it all worth it. ;)
.
I need to upload and edit the video, but I do have some and will be posting it in the next few days. :)

Pickin' and grinnin'

We took the kids to pick blueberries Sunday. It was a first for them (and me) and they had a blast.
Caleb tasting some, he wasn't impressed.
Although I'm sure they taste better if you try them before they've been rolled in the dirt and stepped on. I'm just sayin'.
There was this little pond there and the guy said that it was full of big frogs and turtles. The boys immediately lost interest in the blueberries and went on the hunt for a big frog. You know, the kind that takes two hands to hold.
After much searching, they did in fact find a frog.

Wait for it....

Not really the size they were looking for, but a frog nonetheless.

More of the same

See? This really is all we're doing these days:
It's FANTASTIC! Em has rehearsal next week so I'll (hopefully) have tons of recital pictures to post. Until then, we'll enjoy more of the same!

Blog Break

Not much to report, every day is pretty much the same: sleep late, swim, play. That's it in a nutshell. I LOVE SUMMER!!!

The boys have Scout day camp all next week (guns, bows & arrows - God help us all, I hope they come back with all body parts still attached) and Emmy has recital next weekend so she has rehearsal next week. Plus I'm trying to get my mind organized for our vacation. Eight hours in the car with my car challenged children takes some planning. I'll be tweeting along the way, it should be lots of fun. ;) Right after we get back is Jacob and Jonah's birthday, they want motorcycles, need I say more?! So anyway, I'm taking a little blog break. I'm sure it won't be too long before I have a story or a picture that I just have to share.

Until then, happy summer!

Tiger Cubs no more

Say hello to Pack 119's newest Wolf Cubs!

They had a little graduation ceremony tonight at the park. The boys got their Tiger Cub badges and also a Pinewood Derby patch. I've learned that the patches are really useless, you don't sew them onto the uniform. There are very few that you do actually. I think I'll sew them onto some fabric or something and find a nice way to display them in the boys' room.

Here they are getting their badge/patch:

The boys walked through this cute little trail and over a "fire" then got their faces painted in the graduation part. Each of the stripes symbolized something, I really wasn't paying attention unfortunately so I don't know what they symbolize. I was more concerned with Jacob and the frog he smuggled up there with him. See it in his hand in the above picture?

Proud new Wolf Cubs!
